College and Career Day

Posted on by Jennifer Berg

Last week I was invited to share about my career choice at a middle school in Beaverton, Oregon.  They were having their first annual College and Career Day.  Along with about 100 folks from the community I had the opportunity to share about what I do to about 80 sixth and seventh graders.

A friend of mine is a counselor at this school and asked if I would be interested in sharing my story.  I was excited to be able to help.  It was a great morning and encouraging to see all the different professions represented.  From a Zoomba instructor, Police Officer, Fire Fighter, Attorney, Contractor, to a Chaplain at a juvenile detention center.  It was fun to be a part of a great event.  There were lots of questions and good interest.  Hopefully most of these students will remain in school and avoid the detention center.

The day was a success and I hope to do it again next year!
